Why this hub

Over the past years I’ve deep dived into all aspects of scientific writing and publishing. What a text should look like, how to write it, and how to actually get it done. This is hub is the culmination of that thinking work.

My hope is that this hub can help other students and researcher write their papers. During my own PhD, I struggled with writing, and I felt frustrated that I couldn’t find better support. The only useful course available required I’d already written a draft, but that’s exactly what I struggled with. The books I read focused on what an general or more humanities-focused instruction — with little guidance on the specific structure and language preferences related to my scientific field — or seemed to gloss over the challenges I had with just not knowing what to write.

Perhaps I read the wrong book. Perhaps this hub is just another speck of dust in the giant landscape of academic writing advice. But if it helps one student avoid the frustration I felt, that’s be cool.

This place is a work in progress. Some sections are complete enough to use, others are still being developed. I also lack an eye for detail, so if you catch a spelling mistake or a missing word, know that my brain doesn’t see them for some reason.
